Polarities

We are slow to forgive, though we are quick to ask for forgiveness. We judge with alacrity, but scorn the critiques of others. We want to be loved unconditionally, though we only love on certain conditions. We are acutely aware of the sins of others, but dimly cognizant of our own. We ask others to pray for ourselves, but we never pray for others. We are worthy of nothing, but we always ask for everything. We pray for the Lord to stand with us, but we ignore Him in good times, question Him in bad times, and fail to trust Him at all times. Constantly loathing and worthy to be loathed, we are creatures of sin.

How much do we owe to the One who was loathed for our sakes, yet quick to forgive us, quick to love us unconditionally, and quick to offer us life everlasting?
