Clay Pots

A pot begins as a hard block of clay. The potter pounds and beats it until it's malleable, forcefully kneading his fingers through it until every part is consistent. As he slowly shapes it, he draws it up--higher and higher. After all, to be a useful vessel, it must have capacity. He hollows its insides, his firm but gentle hand guiding its every particle to its desired place. Slowly and with great care, the rough exterior is smoother and undesired formations cut off. With every cut, the vessel is shaped; with every turn, it becomes more beautiful still. Our Potter is masterful. Will we bear the chafing strokes and battering bruises to become "beautiful vessels in His house"? Knowing where the road leads, are we willing to travel the road?
