“The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He will.”
Our lives are short, so shorter still we think’s the time we have to live
Our thoughts are rushed, our hopes fast crushed, with every breath we give.
In haste to pray, in haste expect that God in all His might,
Would quick employ His strength and pow’r to sweep us through the night.
To think that He, who eternity, has fashioned in His hands,
Would live according to our time and answer these demands,
This folly that our flesh employs to weaken faith and sight
Must quickly end lest we fall to sin and oversight.
Our lives are short, but not so short that we cannot then live
As patient children, humble wards to life that He did give.
In quiet pray, through all expect that God in all His might,
Will sure employ His strength and pow’r to guide us through this night.
Know that He, (and worry not), has fashioned in His hands
All that now worries us is subject to his commands.
In wisdom let your heart enjoy all given faith and sight
And linger there in sweeter peace, in Him find all respite.
