Anchored in the Storm

The fog that clouds the salty mast
And swiftly veils the wave –
Seeks to blind the sailor ere
It sends him to his grave.

But graver still ‘s the tow’ring nave
Of storm come here to blow –
To cast aside the vessel small
And its tenants overthrow.

Yet overthrown is scarce a term for
An anchored ship ‘thout sway –
For hid ‘neath the waters deep’s
A Rock against the fray.
