This road, they say with fervent nods,
Is all it takes to get there.
As if that way is simply shod
With gold and pillowed nectar.
Though I do know that where it leads
Will make it worth its flavor,
The path it shows: I must take heed,
Some burdens I must savor.
To reach a mountain, one must climb:
The glory's at the summit.
To reach His kingdom, I must bind
This life to Him who bought it.
In Christ I see the nearing end
And courage to obtain it.
That day will be just 'round that bend
Oh, I can nearly taste it!
