Stand Boldly

To stand boldly before the Most High is an unfailing necessity. Contrary to contemporary perception, it is not by pride, but by supreme humility that we can approach the throne of God with utmost confidence.

Indeed, we disparage the cross-work of the Lord Christ when we present ourselves before God wary of our faults and ready to stake claim to what ever perceived merits we think to salvage. What do you have, foolish one, that was not given to you? And what do you seek that is cannot be obtained unless the merits of Another are brought to your defense?

To consider that the Creator of the heavens and the earth considers your prayers under the harsh light of your sins, is to suggest that His blood has not covered your stains. Or perhaps you do not think that Christ's work is far-reaching enough?

Come, then, not of your own accord, but "according to [His] mercy." It is "for [His] name's sake" that the Lord "pardon[s] [our] iniquity; for it is great." (Psalm 25: 7, 11).
