A Thousand Waves

A thousand waves I’ve counted, yet
I fear that there are more.
The sound of muted thunder comes
To crash upon this shore.

‘Tween every wave there is a calm,
a quiet sigh of wind.
‘Tis here I rest in Jesus’ arms
‘til all is past and spent

The tremb’ling sea and raging storm
and e’en the fearful bluff
Can never, never stand against
the ones whom Jesus loves.
